old school audio guy

another long time audio guy...mostly home audio in the early 90's to present. I started to dabble in the mid 90's in car audio ending with my current set up. Mostly static for the past 10 years for this car (2001 Jetta) since it was completed. The age of the components are starting to show and I've been replacing things this past month. Hence the interest in car audio again.

Pre/Amp Deck: Clarion Pro HX-D10...still holding strong since 2002

EQ: Xtant 500P (5 band analogue parametric). I wanted analogue back then to avoid multiple D/A and A/D conversions. Digital was still not fully mature as it is now.

Amp: my PG 475ti finally was too problematic so I'm back to my original Xtant 3150c that I've had since the late 90's. Still a great old school amp.

Front: Focal 130K about to change to Hertz HSK165 since the Focal's crossover's are rusting out and causing the signal to cut in and out.

Rears: none...don't connect them anymore. if I do/did, I just use the OEM's for rear fill.

Subs: dual 8" Hertz ES200 just replaced a pair of 8" Boston 8.4LF's. The voice coil was blown on one of the Boston's. Never realize how much better it is to have working subs.

picture is an old one of my custom enclosure in the tire well still using the Boston subs. The Xtant EQ is in a side panel where the CD changer is supposed to be.

Great! quality products installed well last a long time. I have a Pioneer deck from 2002 in my odyssey with a small RF sub amp and 8 inch CerwinVega sub plus a pair of Infinity Kappa coaxials run by an older kenwoon 40wpc amp. all runs well still and sound pretty good!
