I'm not condoning driving while impared, but some cops SERIOUSLY abuse the 24 hour suspension.
I remember years ago, a cop caught a friend of mine smoking weed outside of an internet cafe. I was about 20-30 feet away, aware of what he was doing, but not taking part because I don't smoke. Cop is reaming him out and calls me over, so I walk over. Cop accuses me of being high, I told him that I don't smoke. Cop asks how we are getting home, I say that I'm driving (true, only I had a car there), so there is no issue. Cop threatens to give me a 24hr suspension because "I'll be able to smell weed in the car because your friend is high"
I asked him to either charge us with something or let us go, and he did, continuing to threaten that he would watch my car and if we got in he would give a 24hr.
We went back inside and played CS for another hour or so, cop was gone when we came out.
Sad thing is, if he wanted to push it the only way to dispute a 24hr is to go to the hospital and get a certificate saying that you are/were not impared.
Being old/tired/on legal meds/bad eyesight/on the phone/etc can be just as dangerous... it's just my opinion but I think that cops should have a higher burden of evidence to issue a 24hr... you can PASS a breathalizer and still get one

I have met some cops that will give out a 24hr suspension if you admit to smoking in the last 24hrs - and they can.
The problem is the abuse of power. Some cops feel that anyone who smokes any amount of weed is as messed up as a drunken crack .
So where do you draw the line?
It is ok to have one beer and drive...what about one doobie? And one BC doob may do twice as much as one sask doob...so where is the line?
Frankly IMO sleep deprivation and cell phone use should all warant 24hr suspensions.
Wow this one's all over the place, lets see...
1. Sorry about the 24hr susp. hope you learned a lesson.
2. Sweet new ride. we rented a 300c with the 3.5, it was strong.
3. I think "impaired" driving should cover more than just alcohol. cell phones and ignorance come to mind.
4. chunkys car sucks donkey *****.

A 24hr license suspension is not a conviction. It is more like a warning. The suspension will not show up on your driving history and therefor your insurance is just fine as they will never know.
Enjoy your new car, it looks great!

Congrats on the purchase Mike. When is the wall going in As for Chunk, man you are really starting to wear on me man. First of all, why do you go off on Neon's and whatever that other jumble of letters are. You should stop posting about stuff you are ignorant about. Assuming that someone is buying something that they are not, and have clearly stated they are not is just making you look foolish. Some people don't need a Hemi, in fact no one needs a Hemi. The other motors will allow the vehicle to safely pass on a highway, which is the only real thing power is needed for. Sure Hemi's are nice if you have money to burn (both at the initial buy in and in fuel) but why buy one if you don't need to, especially if your wife is the one driving it.
Anyways, congrats on the new purchase again Mike.

Thanks everyone! Dereck just FYI, cornfest (LOL), is this weekend so if you and some buddies want to get drunk, probably get in to a scrap, eat some corn & chili. Come on down.... http://www.taberchamber.com/Cornfest/home.htm
Honestly it's nothing to special IMO.
*edit* spelled your name wrong. My buddy spells his Derek. Anyway beer gardens started already I think.
