Question 300

No, not from Chrysler.
Have any of you seen the new movie "300" ?
What did you think?
I seem to recall an older movie (1962-3?)called "The 300 Spartans", are any of you old fogies familiar with it?
How about how Hollywood portrays the historic incident, what would you like to see? Or was it good enough to earn your $ ?

Absolutely loved it.

Mostly accurate account of the actual battle and very precise as to the way of life in Sparta as told by the history books.

The imagery was amazing. Just about the whole show was a screenshot worthy of being framed and hung on the wall.

One word to decribe the movie......epic.

I will see it again before it leaves the theatre.

Not enough violence! Yes lots of limbs were lost, but I wanted a little more honest one on one combat.

I was jealous of all the people walking in to see 300 tonight. My date dragged me to see Premonition. Oh God people please don't waste your time on this movie. Even she didn't like it.

Every person I've talked to that's seen 300 has loved it. I, of course, can't give a comment on 300 but if you want the latest updates on todays chick flicks..............

The 1962 version is a pretty good show also. I went searching for it about a month before the new one came out. I was expecting to fall asleep while watching it, but I didnt. There are a few funny parts in it (bloopers), over all I enjoyed it and its a part of my dvd collection now

I'm surprised you found it, where pray tell?
The bloopers should be good.
How would you compare the two?
What do you people think of all these re-makes from Hollywood?

Just saw 300 at the IMAX, and overall I didn't think much of it.
There were times I could tell it was done in a studio, I didn't think the depiction of the battle was well portrayed, there was a lot of CGA, and the electric guitar music in one scene was disappointing.
I wonder why they didn't film it on location, with all the resources and no doubt, the enthusiasm of the Greek Gov't.? it could have been an epic production, even with mediocre actors.
