Still go to the doctor!! Just to say that you did. If you have problems with your back in the future you wont get **** if you haven't been to the doctor. I was in a accident about a year ago and now i am ****ED!! I can't have day where it doesn't hurt to bend over. TAKE HIM for everything he has got. I didn't sue and i got $10k and mine wasn't that bad (only about 60 km/hr). I think you are looking for about $25K EASY.
Sorry to hear that, and I agree with D-50, you should get checked out, I have a friend that has been through years of b.s. trying to get her claim sorted out from an accident, too. Her back/neck has been messed up for a long time. It is tough to get them to believe you, if you haven't gone to the doctor ASAP.

um k if you arnt at fault then i cant see how it is going to cost you any money. i got hit by a guy running a red light. i was turnign left on teh yellow and he went right through the red light. ( i waited for it to turn red before finishing my turn because i was in the middle of the lane. ) didnt cost me a cent . actualy i got my car painted for $900 bucks after taxes after the accident.
