any doctors in the house???
Hmm so....played hockey 2 weeks ago saturday in a big tourney. Playing net as per usual, i did something....where i was down on my knee's and i had to kinda fold over backwards and to my right.....none the less i'm not sure ho but i screwed up my right ankle. I think the inside of my foot was towards the ice and i flipped over to that side only my edge caught and my ankle kinad stayed....
Anyways, hurt like frickin hell!! Finished the game, we won, good stuff. Hurt a fair amount that night, couldn't walk up or down stairs easily as it felt like i pulled muscles all up the side outside of my ankle up to my calf as well as up the akiliese tendon up to my calf. It got a lil better monday and i thought i was pretty well good (soon anyways). Tuesday, i did something getting outta my vehicle and it hurt like a biatch! Hurt consistently all day, tried to play regular hockey on wed cause i didn't think it was that bad....but BAD BAD idea....
Seems walking still hurts the bottom of my calf/akilese tendon area....generally just sitting it'll hurt if it's not in the right position (which i kinda have yet to find). If i try and push a bag outta the way, like i did yesterday, using the inside of my foot kinda accross my body that hurts like frickin hell.
That all being siad, i never iced it or heated it, cause i never do that and i've just never had any problems. It wasn't overly swollen....the morning after, just don't really have a defined ball on the outside of my ankle....or well it's a really smooth bump instead of kinda an abrupt bump. It's almost two weeks later and it still feels and looks pretty well the same. A lil tender to push on. If i bend that leg as if i was to go down in the butterfly position it hurts a bunch.
Few people have said do the x-ray thing, only prob is all i know for doctors is like the walk-in mediclinics and they take a while, like 2h before you can do anything...further more i don't think they can take x-rays there. In your guys' professional opinion...what do you suggest? just a sprain? it'll pass by? i'm ****ed? what?

R.I.C.E my man...
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation...
Basically, try and stay off of it as much as possible and take a bit of time off from hockey.
Ice it a couple of times a day. 20 mins on, 20 mins off.
Wear a tensor bandage on it...
and keep it elevated.
You'll be back in no time

hmm...that doesn't fit very well into my 1km walk to work doh!
so in your professional opinion as a doctor/surgeon....it's not something that requires going to the doctor....just a sprain or whatever, right?

my best guess is a spain. i'm an expert at these
i skateboraded for 3 years from when i was 15-18.. and in that time i spained my left ancle 3 times, and my right one 4! that was painfull. each time was no "little" sprain either.. i had to stay off it for couple days with the R.I.C.E model

I mean, we can only go on what you've told us. And it sounds like it's not broken.
I would definitely avoid the 1km walk to work for a little while if you can.
See a doctor. LOL! Anyone can say "Oh I've done that, it's just a sprain" etc...
But, there are so many things that could be wrong. You could have broken it, tore a muscle. Hell, you could have hurt your back and the pain could be shooting down your leg and into your ankle for all anyone might know. Best idea IMO is see a Doc.

If he broke it or tore something he wouldn't have been able to play a couple of days later and wouldn't have been able to go a few days before even asking us what was up.
It's not a problem with his back because he remembers twisting it. Lets use some common sense here
I understand why you're telling him to go see a doc, but why if it's just a waste of his and their time?
Sounds like your in a bunch man! LIke Jordyo said make sure you keep your leg elivated as much as possible. sounds like a mild sprain and a tear in your muscle you said the ankle was fine for a couple, so in that time you had swelling in your muscle tissue, I was a CANADIAN NATIONAL RUNNER in high school and have seen plenty of ankle injuryes if the pain still persist, go get X rays done. you may regreat that you did't when your watching your buddys skate and your the one sitting on the bench. remember to take it easy for at least 2-3 weeks depending ON the swelling.
