Anyone Snowboard?
 

I've been away from snowboarding for a while now and it's time to get back out.
Anyone got any recommendations on a new board for general slope duties? I'm pretty much a novice and would like to stay within $500 for board with bindings but if it costs a bit extra to get what I will really like........

I want to try it, havnt got a chance yet somehow haha and im kind of embarassed because id need that bunny hill
but my friend (and friends twin sister) went to olympics for freestlye snowboard
Her brother might teach me to board one day haha

If you can I would suggest a Burton. They are the industry leader and make superior products. You should be able to find a pretty decent package for your budget. I had a twin tip for about 5 yrs. and it was great. Snowboards are pretty personal so I would deffinately try some out before buying. Many hills have demo days where you can ride there boards free. Also many shops will do rentals or day-long demo's so check them out. The specific board will be dependant on hight weight and what your riding style (ie. all mountain for you) If your not going to spend all day in the park or halfpipe look for something a little longer. The fact that this girl is an asian with an absolute STEEPED body, is just sort of an added bonus.

I'm near Toronto (Oshawa) if anyone's got any good stores to recommend.
I forgot to include my size as it may factor in. I'm 5'10" and 230lbs with size 12/13 feet. I was wondering if I should opt for a wider board with my boat feet.
I won't be in the halfpipe very often and it'll be mostly mountain. What length should I be looking at?

I have been riding for about 12 years and have been through ALOT of different boards!!! At the present I have 2 boards, one is a Ride and the other is a K2. For me I have 2 because the Ride is my backcountry deep powder board because of how stiff it is. The K2 is my "resort" groomed board, it is a good all around for me. It really comes down to what characteristics you want in a board.

A few names I would suggest are:

Burton, floater series(its good and wide)
K2

and for bindings I suggest you get the good ol' ratchet down your feet bindings and not step in style bindings, way better feel of the board.

How come they don't make the horeshoe bindings anymore? The ones without bases but with ratchet straps? Those bindings were awsome, great feel with the board.

funny you should mention that.. My Ride has Preston Baseless bindings. You are right on baseless is amazing, but I guess it is old technology so they phazed it out. I know I wouldnt give up my Prestons for anything else. I have Burton Custom Freestyles on my K2 which are real nice bindings aswell but nothing like my Prestons!!
