Anyone use a Wireless network/router at home?

Have you ever heard the stories of people running around getting access to these networks?

Well, I just unpacked my new Dell notebook (with centrino)

I fired it up, one of the first things that came up, was pick wireless network to attach to. I don't have a wireless setup yet! I had 3 to choose from!

So I can sit in the basement with the laptop and pick which internet service I want, if one slows down, I guess I can switch!

Damn, my neighbors are the best!

Anyway, if anyone has wireless, take a minute to read through your owners manual, it tells you how to enable security!

I have a Microsoft Wireless router at home and I could never get the damned thing to work. Spent $200 on it and nada. It keeps on trying to say im on dial up internet when im actually on dsl. When I go home next I'll try it again or throw it out my window.

Wireless rules (when it works).

I run wireless but i use encryption just for that reason. There is a program you can get that search for available wireless networks and gives you the ISP info and channel it is on. Also if you have a GPS card you can drive around with your laptop and it will scan and log each connection and plot its location so you can go back!!

I love technology!

I used wireless at school, at home I run wired, I never cared for wireless now, too many bugs and security issues for me.

Plus its slower.

Plus running wire is fun :D

Werd.

With wireless, you're just begging to be tapped and hacked. Better live in a remote area.

^^^ it's 128bit encryption isn't it? if someone wants to spend the years of processing power to hack that then all the power to them i suppose...

I just set up a MS wireless, encrypted it for sure. Works good, downloading at 100-150kbs. fer sure comparable to wired for speed...
