Just wanna make sure there's nothing i need to do or not do. Last time I connected this up, it worked for about 3 min and then the alarm started and kept going off. I had to return it for warranty.
So now i just wanna be extra careful i suppose? Anything i should do or make sure of before connecting this? |

lol it was a good deal, or not as bad as it could have been. Most similar units i checked, seemed to be around $150ish....this unit had a few extra outlets which i needed and cost me $200, in store retail is $350 on it i think.

LOL man... I've been running the same 6 socket Walmart surge protector for like 10 years now on my PC and I've had no issues whatsoever. And the difference is that I paid $5.99. I honestly don't see what the marginal benefit would be to pay an additional $200.

There IS such thing as a "good" surge protector and a "bad" surge protector. I don't know the cpecs of yours but I'm sure we can guess what level the $5.99 Walmart protector sits at. :D |
LOL Waller that was freakin' hilarious. Anything that slags on Monster is freakin' hilarious :D

Problem with all surge protectors is the don't do much at all to protect from direct lightning strikes. Even the ones that pay you cash if your equipment is destroyed will not pay out if your house was directly hit.
Read the fine print. |

a surge and a lightning strike are two different things

...if the surge go's thru the bar and doesn't have another line to the equipment, what i read says it was covered. One should use decent surge protection though. I mean, I never have, save for $15 surge bars, and just cuz I've never had a problem does not mean it can't happen. right? |

Apart from that as for my actual question, i'll assume thats a no. [/QB] Nothing will protect your equipment from a direct strike. If it is just a power surge, then yes it will protect you. |
