Auto Insurance - some quick questions relating to payments/refunds
Hey Folks,
I emailed my insurance dude and requested a quote on a specific car. Got quotes back depending on whether it was 2wd or 4wd. Great! Went to flip over my insurance and the lady all of a sudden tells me it's an extra $400 per year. I'm like woah, buddy emailed me and said it was x amount. She's like well he's not in today and it's $400 more than what he said. Needless to say, I emailed him and I'm almost positive he was in this week (at the very least he was there today), yet he hasn't emailed me back. I tried calling him today only to find out he took the afternoon off - doh! Anyways, I went researching online and it turns out my company gets a 10% discount through Meloche Monex. So i priced out insurance through them and it was about $120-$150/year cheaper than what my original quote was from my current place. Now my question, if buddy isn't willing to help and $400/year extra is the amount and I choose to cancel my insurance to switch to another company, do they just refund me back what i've already paid for but havent used? AKA, i'm on a monthly plan, and to get me paying a month in advance, they've taken out a prorated payment of this month and next month already. If i cancel, will they give it back minus the days I was insured for? I'd rather not cancel, but I'd also like to know this going in, before I start dropping complaints/threats of leaving. |
