This is a pic of my assitant manager's truck this last weekend...

Its an 85 Chevy 3/4 ton on 1 ton axles with 21 inches of lift and 44" mudders...

Apparently he had some steering problems and was heading back to camp,couldnt manuver over the bridge,misjudged and BOOM!!

The truck is a total write off...bent frame,just about every body panel got twisted in some way...as I understand,he had to climb through the windows to get in as he couldnt open the doors everything was twisted so bad...

Two weekends before this happened he got so bogged in the mud it took 5 trucks,10 guys, 4 broken tow straps and countless hours to get it out..peice by peice that is...

Havent rolled like that yet, but plenty damn good stucks. Witnessed some awesome rollovers while on the trails.

suck to have it flipped like that when u are out of control. now if u flip it while trying something that is totally different.

Yeah it was sorta nice...your typical offroad truck...complete with a centre console setup as a cooler...when the ice melts,just reach in, pull the plug and the water runs down to the ground...

He ran a 454 and 4 spd in it on propane...had seats setup in the rear for people to ride..

I was always hoping for a chance to go bogging with him sometime...but oh well...I guess not for sometime...

Well on the bright side,, most is salvagable from the picture.. A few hundred dollars for an old farm truck, many hours rebuilding and he should be good to go!

Actually the frame was bent during the extraction..They had to drag it from under the bridge and then flip back up right...He's pretty well given up on it...

I overheard him mention to someone today he bought an old towtruck chassis to start building agian...should be interesting

By the way...when the truck flipped...he wasnt wearing a seat belt...DAMN LUCKY MAN!!

I wouldn't have even bothered with the bridge...woulda been more fun to cross the little creek(or crick if your from the states).

I've been up to the windows in mud/water in an 89 Powerwagon with 38's(same tires as the ones on that truck...Superswaper Boggers) and a 340 making around 600-650hp, dual posi's and a re-built Dodge transfer case and I didn't get stuck.


Apperently your assistant manager doesn't know that those trucks are a dime a dozen.(Or maybe it's just Ontario) Buy another body and frame and just switch everything over. Might take 2 weeks if you take your time and have all the required tools. Better yet, go get a 1 ton diesle and build it up. Cheaper on gas plus I don't know why anyone would want a smallblock in a mudtruck. [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img]

As i had mentioned before he was having troubles with his steering box and was trying to limp his way back to camp...just didnt work out so well...


As far as being bogged in,becasue of a rainfall the day before the mud became like oatmeal..so sticky you couldnt even shovel it...

Yes I know it was a 454, I was simply asking why anyone would want a smallblock for a mudder since I had just mentioned the 600+hp 340 in the 89 Powerwagon I was driving that makes all it's horsepower at around 6000RPM, whereas a big block would likely make the same hp at around 4500Rpm, and a big diesle would make it's hp much lower than that.


Oh he was having steering problems...ok. Ic now.
