well, it seems it's been a bad day for quite a few people in the Cobourg area so here's my story.

I'm driving down Burnham St from Dale road(before the big fire). I'm minding my own buisness, I'm doing 10 over the speed limit then all of a sudden this dink pulls out in front of me hauling a trailer.

The roads were wet so I try to be easy on the brakes but firm enough to stop and they locked up...all 4 lock, I feel the van starting to drift to the right(I'm in the left lane) so I try to correct and take my foot off the brake a bit but I was getting VERY close to the guy that cut me off so I got back into the brakes and it locked up again.

so I'm on a pretty dangerous angle at this point and all I can see is the tires of the tractor trailer (trailer tires) and they just got closer and closer then finnally BAM!!!, I hit the rear set of tires, and then the back bumper of the trailer (big square, steel bar).

I missed the other guy who kept right on driving like nothing happened, and obviously the truck driver didn't feel anything but he came back after someone told him I hit him. Asked me if I was ok and what not, I was in the process of putting my front bumper in the back of the van, but I talked to him for a bit.......I"m not hurt, and nobody else was involved, but the van took a bit of damage...ripped the front bumper off....the plastic and the metal behind it.....broke my signal, marker and head light on the passenger side and pushed the front of the fender in so the hood wouldn't close properly.

So it cost me 8 bucks to fix my bumper and tomorrow I have to find a headlight, marker and signal light...unless someone has a 92 Dodge Caravan or Plymouth Voyager they want to part out

With a little paint, fiberglass and bondo it'll be almost as good as new.

Oh, then as I was driving to CT for bolts for my bumper I saw the big fire and ANOTHER accident in the same place I had mine.

What a crappy day.

Why were the police not contacted?

If nobody is hurt and the vehicles are fine, police generally = trouble. The cop would likely try to give him a ticket.

Claimed to be going close to the speed limit and another vehicle made an unsafe entrance. If the facts given are correct Brandon was not at fault. Now if he was indeed going faster than stated he would be charged.
Drew, I don't agree with your statement at all.

Leaving out the fact that he has no proof of the vehicle causing him to go out of control as it drove off none the wiser.

But even so, what would calling the police do? If he didn't get a plate number, a vehicle description isn't going to do anything. Calling the police in that situation would be a waste of his and their time. Nobody was hurt, minimal damage was done, and it wouldn't suprise me if the police tried to charge him with undue care and attention, or maybe charge him with driving too fast for road conditions.

I only have liability coverage and there wasn't a lot of damage done to my van, so I figured I'd be saving myself a headache, plus I couldn't get the number of the other guys plate.

I'll get someone to post some pics of the carnage for me....it looks worse than it is, but it actually ripped the metal part of my bumper right off. I used some fat washers and big bolts and got it back on, and my signal light bulbs still work so I threw them back in with the bezel.

Most accident damage does look worse than it is. My car's damage looked worse than it actually was.

I like how you did the box for your subs.
