I recently purchased a Western Union money order in Canadian dollars here. I sent it down to a guy I know in NJ where he said he went to 5 different Western Union locations and he couldn't cash it.

It is possible to cash the Canadian money order in the States? I recall I sent a WU CAD money order to a guy in NY a year ago and he could cash it fine.

If he is not able to cash it what are the options? The guy I know in NJ he will just send me back the money order. Can I somehow take it to a Canadian Western Union agent and get my money back for it directly since I am the purchaser of the order?

WU's refund policy says that you need to get a $12.00 non-refundable processing fee, an affidavit that is notarized, the original proof of purchase and you need to send all this crap to some PO box in Colorado. All this red tape just makes this whole procedure error prone and it seems like Western Union would just easily be able to get out of the whole situation that the original receipt was lost in the mail or that some form was not properly filled out.

What should I do?

I would imagine that the tellers he went to are not used to seeing foreign money orders, and probably thought it was some scam.
Was the money order made to Canadian funds, or in US dollars ?

Any bank will take the stuff I'm sure. Hell couple years back I just crossed the border on a finals trip and stopped for breakfast with some guys off this board, the teller just about spit on me when I tried to pay in Canadian. I even alloud for the 35% difference or what ever we were getting robbed by back then.

Long story short they lost there temper with me when I thought they were kidding and someone paid for me in "Real Money"

Wait I still owe some one breakfast me thinks.
