Anyone try this? Would it work? I have a Kicker S10L5 lying around, I'm going to build a 3.8 cu ft enclosure tuned to 23Hz. In WinISD Pro it looks like it'd compete with a Shiva. Whatcha think, good idea, waste of time/money?

Go for it. for a while I was using my 2 8" Cerwin vega in my home set up. I gave theme ach 35 watts in a small ported box and it sounded fine and dandy.

it works, but it's just not meant to work in such a large space... you can pick up a powered house sub for real cheap compared to car audio stuff

DO IT.

DO IT.

It'll be interesting, why not? As long as the amp you're driving it with is stable to the impedance you can wire the sub to.

I'm ordering a 250/360 watt plate amp anyways from creativesounds. The Kicker will get 360 watts. Before I buy a sub I'm going to try out the 10L5.

I had a Velodyne 8" home sub that sounded great but didn't hit below 30hz. With the 10L5 in the box I mentioned, it'll play deep in the 20's where alot of movies now a days go. If it works it'll save me a nice chunk of change.

Watch for a fixed subsonic filter on those plate amps. Some are set to around 30 or 35Hz with 6db rolloff. That may inhibit low end response if the sub is capable of doing so.

I just got a new sub for my car, so I'm thinking of trying that out with my IDQ15

Home sub amps usually stable at 8ohms mono or 4ohms mono? My IDQ is a D4, so I doubt I'd be able to run it at 2ohms..

Most home sub amps are 4ohm stable, I wouldn't run them lower than 4 though. Thanks Chadxton, I'll look for that.
