Or should I look at a steup that has individual AA batteries and a charger? Any input is appreciated, thanks.

That is a bit on the pricey side for basic rechargeable batteries. If all you need is 4 batteries and a charger, you can pic up everything you need at Wal-Mart. The batteries should be Duracell or Energizer and the charger of decent quality. You are looking at about $15 for the 4 batteries and about the same for the charger.

If you have that then you are set because even digicams that drain regular batteries in one day will last much much longer with the brand name rechargeables.

Costco also has a nice charger and batteries set. Around $29.00

The higher the mAh rating the better - also more expensive.

I think 1800 mAh is the standard nowadays. I've seen some AA batteries rated at 2500 mAh! Nickel metal hydride rechargeables are definitely better than normal alkaline and rechargeable Ni Cad batteries. Especially for digital cameras.

If those Kodaks are NiMH batteries with a pretty high rating, the price sounds about right. For most people 2100 mAh batteries are good enough - price/performance. IMO, 2500 mAh batts are not worth twice the price.

i use the high mAh panasonic recharg. in my digi cam and they seem to work great. just buy a few sets and always have and extra set charged. they last a long time and don't wear out quickly.

Even though they say there is no "memory effect" they still do - just not as much as the NiCad's or Li-ion.

The only draw back to NiMH batteries, and it's really not a huge issue, is that the fully charged batteries drain themselves when not used. I think they drain completely in a month or so. <=== again, not a biggie. Just charge them a day or so before you need them.

I also read somewhere that quick charging them is better than slow charging them - not 100% sure. Some batteries are rated to be charged 1000 times, while others are rated for only 500. Interesting stuff, batteries are.........

Like Coffeyman said, when you use the high mAh types, they go forever. It's funny to note that I've come across some old school photographers who still don't believe in rechargeable batteries. One dude I convinced, not that long ago, was floored by the amount of shots he got in one photoshoot. Now if I can only open his eyes to the advantages of digital photography.............

something with a high mah rating is good gets you more battery life. i hope you got a good deal and psp with that. cause you might end up hating the camera soon and wish for something else. not a big kodak person lost alot of faith in thier products the last digital i had. but good luck with it. maybe this will fare better [img]smile.gif[/img] cheers.

Energizer has a charger with 4 AA batteries included which can be found everywhere from $20-$30. Has a 14hr re-charge time (long) but the batteries work great - and you can charge AAA in the charger as well.

Yeah just make sure high Mah NImH.. We get so many customers calling in cause they use ur basic alkaline battery and wonder why they can only get 10 pictures before they die.... I have Kodak Digi Cam and I love it works amazing not 1 problem yet...had it for about 1.5 years now....
