I just bought a Velodyne 8" sub for my home theatre and even though it sounds very good, I'm looking for something that can fill my large basement a little better. I want to get an Adire Tempest and a parts express 250 watt amp. My question is box building. Do I build a box in the same manner as car audio or is there a different technique to it. I've tried many DIY forums but most are over my head. IF anyone has experience building home theatre subs please let me know, thanks.

Ty/Orion 95 is making some now if I recall. Ask him.

In one word....yes.

Ask adire for some box designs if you need a starting point.

Thanks... I'll contact Adire. I just want to make a simple ported box, that gets loud and low. The more simple the design the better since I'm a beginner.

If anyone wants to help me out with dimensions for the box I'd appreciate it lots! The room is 20 x 20 x 7.5.

Do sealed boxes in a home application produce low and loud bass?

it's pretty much the same as car audio.. you'll definitely want ported with that tempest.

I have my tempest runnig off 400 watts in my basement. Its kinda stupid for music as the main speakers fill the room nicely with bass. The room really reinforces bass. But man, The Tempest all the way for movies. It adds a whole new dimension.
Cross it over low and turn the gain up!

Port it in the low 20`s

Here is the reference designs for the tempest.. http://www.adireaudio.com/Files/Vent...plications.PDF I suggest the adire alignment. Its a nice size of 214L's, tuned to 15hz, and 22Wx22Dx38" high..

I have built a few home theater subs, and towers/center channels etc... Any questions just ask.. I could build the enclosure for you, but shipping would be a bitch!
