This is probably a stupid question, but this is the first thing besides songs I have downloaded from kazza. The file shows up in my "video" section of kazza, but when I click on it the screen is just black and there is no sound. If I search for the file and try to play it in Media Player, it will play but again with just a black screen and no sound. It's an avi file, how do I watch it?

 

You need a codec

look at the file extension and see what it is

It will be the abbreviation at the end of the file name

Usually if you use media player it will search for the codec itself.

For example you will see .divx

Divx has its own player which you can download.

Or the file could be crap

In kazaa under "video" if you scroll to the right it will list the codec needed to play the movie

You can download the codec under "software"

i have the same problem ... i got a movie and its and its xvid not divx. i am assuming i need an xvid player ??!!

any one know of one ??
