yes yes i know i should take it to a mechanic.....im getting a whole new motor instead very shortly.

BUT in the mean time what is a good quick fix to stop oil leakage? What is the best Canadian Tire suppliment for that?

Engine Stop Leak....

Chevy Man 03-15-2005 01:54 PM

where is it leaking oil from....may be as easy as checking all the bolts..oil pan, head ...but if it is leaking into your antifreeze then the head gaskets are done and i'm not sure how to temp fix that...other than jsut drain all the oil out of the engine and drive it like that....LOL JK.

Prolifik 03-15-2005 02:04 PM

well the engine has no oil in it really, it all leaks out pretty fast somewhere from the bottom

Chevy Man 03-15-2005 02:15 PM

well, i'd check out al lthe bolts on the oil pan and the oil drain bolt...

Prolifik 03-15-2005 02:40 PM

good call, thanks buddy

When you say it leaks out pretty good, does it mean pours out?

It could be your main bearing seal.

Your oil filter may have burst, but highly unlikely - you look like you take good care of the car.

Get under there, wipe everything up clean, and get someone to pour in some oil, check to see which part of the motor it is leaking from. ie: front, rear, left, right, near distributor, etc.

Drain bolt would be easiest to check. Be sure to check above from where it is actually dripping.... sometimes the leak may be somewhere else... oil just accumulating at the lowest spot.

hmmm from what u guys are saying the best fix at the moment would be to take it to a mechanic. i guess i will have to

mugen1 03-15-2005 04:56 PM

No, just go under there and tell us what you see. I've worked on 4th gen Hondas since I bought my 1989 Civic Si back in Oct. of 88. Your motor is the same as mine. It could be something really, really simple.

Ok, maybe not.

see thats where i step aside...i only know gm v-8 engines...good luck with the fix-up , cheers
