Going to the boss' for dinner.. need gift suggestions.
Ok.. my boss is having the 'management team' over for dinner on Saturday and I don't want to show up empty handed like a numpty.
Generally people bring wine to a dinner like this, but there are 2 other couples going and I'm assuming one of them will have it covered.
So... any other suggestions?

Bring a Marble Rye. Or a Chocolate Babka
Boss smoke cigars? Always a nice choice. Otherwise wine (red) is the accepted gift - just make sure to get a decent bottle so you don't get upstaged.

bring em a home made potato salad with home made mayo.
take approx 5 baking spuds (thick skin) and cut them in half, leave the skins on. get a medium sized pot add the potato`s and fill with water until 3/4 full. boil until they are soft (check with fork) and drain water. place pot back on stove (turn off element). let them cool natural, or place in fridge. than remove skins.
take 1 green pepper, 1 red pepper, 1 red onion, and a bit of fresh dill, and chop peppers and onions into small pieces. heat approx 2-3 tsp of olive or any oil on med heat until hot. throw in the peppers and onions and chopped dill in. sautee for around 10-15 mins. when done turn off heat, leave in pan.
cut spuds in med size pieces (kinda messy on the fingers) into a large mixing bowl. add pepper medley on spuds, and add 1 tsp black pepper, 1 tsp salt, and 1 can of peas. (make sure you drain the peas in a collander and rinse with water).
now for the mayo.......
in a blender add 2 eggs (separate yolks, or add whole, i`ve done both ways and worked the same) 2 tsp lemon juice, 1 tsp cayane pepper and blend. wilst blending take 1/2 cup veg. oil (now this is the tricky part) and add very small amounts to blender, even drops at at a time. the mixture should start to thicken and get a frothy texture. when this occurs you can add the oil faster until it looks like mayo.
scoop out the mayo and add to bowl of potato`s and peppers. mix through ingredients. now add salad to a presentation bowl. flatten out salad sightly until you have a even surface. top with paprika for color.
if possible refridgerate over night, and serve chilled!!
your boss will blow you after one taste.
