I just bought a 1942 Jeep CJ. It's always been a dream of mine to build a rockcrawler and I know most "crawlers" swear by Jeeps, so I figured a WW2 CJ would be the easiest jeep to work on short of building one from scratch as I can fabricate most of my own parts easily, if needed. The plan is to install a big block Chevy or Dodge(454 or 440) and do some minor work to reach my minimum HP goal of 400. I'm choosig to use a big block because they make thier max torque at lower RPM's.
The Jeep will sit of some kind of 38" tire...possibly Swamper Boggers or the new BFGoodrich Krawler T/A's. Anyway, that's in the works and it WILL be done for next summer, and I was wondering where's all the good rock crawling spots within a reasonable drive from the GTA? I'm willing to drive to Haliburton or somehere in that area if need be but I was hoping to find somewhere closer to home. So where's the sweetspots? |
Doesn't anybody go 4 wheelin anymore?

Right on man! Is it a flatfender Jeep? I think the CJ's were made in the 70's through to the 80's by the way. www.bc4x4.com is a great resource, maybe there are similiar 4x4 forums based in Ontario. Cool!

I just call it a CJ but it's actual name is the CJ2A.
Yes, its a flatfender and they rule man. I found out I have some money to spend really soon though, I got a cracked front axle housing and the front diff gears are pooched. Anyway, thatks for that website I'll definatly check it out and see if there's similar sites for Ontario. |
