Hello
Hello
Hi, new to the site. Couldn't believe there was actually a canadian car audio site lol
I just got a new car, and sold all my audio stuff along with my old car, so I'm starting from scratch. Which is kind of fun, but a lot of work.... I've been into car audio for 2-3 years now, and do most of the installing and what not myself. However I've chosen to put my car into the hands of a professional this time around to save some headaches.
Might as well start off with a first question.....
I've chosen the Type X component Ref (not pro
) set, for up front, I was just waiting to select rear speakers before starting the install. But the audio tech told me to skip out on the rear speakers as this will mess up my sound stage.
I'm familular with how to set up a sound stage and all that jazz, in my previous car I ran 6x9s in the rear, amped, but with a hpf and turned down so my fronts did most of the work. Is it going to sound weird, and or quiet with only a sub in the back and no highs or mids at all?
I've been on several audio forums and been lurking for years and I've never heard of not running rears at all :s
Thanks guys, look forward to becoming a regular.

Lots of guys don't like to runs rears. I like them, I like to feel like the music is all around me. I've got 5 1/4" comps and 3 1/2"s up front and 6x9's in the rear deck. Each set has there own amp and I can fade the rears completely out so I’ve tried it both ways. I like it a lot more with the rears speakers. I think it’s all pretty opinionated though, I'm sure there are few people who won’t like the sound of my set up. I've also got everything time aligned with an Alpine PXA-H100, I think that helps a bit
i don't run rears.
unless you are driving a huge vehicle or simply can't fit sufficient speakers up front, justdo the fronts.
save your money on the extra amplification and rear speakers, and put that cash into the front install and front speakers.
plus, its easier and cheaper to start off without rears, and if you miss them, go get them.
cheaper than buying them and then deciding you don't like them.
also, if you are able to cross your sub low enough and use time alignment, you won't even notice that the bass is coming from the trunk.
