Home audio sub questions

I hope this is the right forum for this...anyway here goes.
I have 3 100w home audio subs
Kenwood 8"
Energy 10" XL-S10
JBL 12" PS120
I was thinking of building a nice enclosure and using the amp from the JBL unit as its a 4ohm amp and it seems there are many pretty good 12" subs out there in the 4ohm configuration for little $$$$. The factory JBL sub looks pretty cheesy and the enclosure is sealed and much smaller than the Energy one so I was thinking of building a bigger ported box to match the requirements of the sub I pick up. My question is will this all be a waste of time considering I am only using a 100w amp? The amp on the JBL unit is at least twice the size of the Energy one but I think the Energy is a 8ohm amp??????? Should I just hold out and buy a sub with a bigger amp or will I be able to make some gains over what I have buy building a properly sized ported box? Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

I guess I errored in how I worded the question.
I want to use the amp from the JBL sub if it will be worth the effort.
Just I'm not sure if a 100w amp is worth the effort.
Thanks

if you set it up you will need to look at power for the car amp 120v to 12v and you need what do you need in 100+amps to run that amp that is where it falls apart in $ or you have a set of car batters with a unit to power tham up to the wall

just buy a plate amp from css and you will have the power you need. I did it and it would overpower a 12" kappa perfect.

Ummm.... the amp is a 120v amp.
Its a existing 12" home sub I just thought a better driver and enclosure would make for a better sub.

most home amp are 8oms your car sub/speakers are 4oms
if you have 2 sub (4oms) you can set up to 8 oms
something to think about

ahh yea....

the 100w JBL probably does 2x as much as the 100w energy.....

you can probably bank on a lil more then 100w RMS too, which is often enough for a HT setup......

I say buy a lower power 15" that will work in a ported box.... there are lots of em out there for less then $150 and it should ROCK over what you have now.......

Yes it can be worth it. There are many driver's out there that will work great in a HT setup with 100rms. Team one with a nice big ported enclosure tuned low and you're set.

Any recomendations on a driver of choice?
