Hey Zach, why did your advisor say it wouldn't be worth it to invest? I thought the big thing about investing was to start as soon as you can, even if it's a little.

I suggest you find a new advisor now. She is an idiot. That is by far the worst advice I have ever heard!

You're allowed to put in 18% of your total income into an RRSP right? $4000 a month would mean you would make somewhere in the area of $260,000 a year. That's awesome! Do you need a secretary/lackey/etc. by any chance?
$4000-$5000 year. You are only allowed to contribute a max of $18,000 tax free into an RRSP no matter how much you make.

At 16 years old can you please explain to me how you manage to make enough to contribute $2000/month? I call BS.

I highly suggest manulife financial. We have a company sponsored program with them and I am very please. Easy to deal with and great advise. You pay a little more for their services (about 2.5% of your return)but I feel it is well worth it. You can also look into discount brokers. They are a little cheaper at about 1.5% but either way you will receive much better advise. Ask your advisor if she knows what compound interest is. Wow, I still can't get over her advise. I'm actually really mad about it! lol.

I put in 8% of my pay every week into my pension plan and the company puts in 3% so every week I get a total of 11% of my pay put into the pension. Last year I put in about $5,000
