How to scare the general public

you simply lie to them and they wont know the difference,

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Peel region police have arrested three men after undercover officers posed as the buyers of a machine-gun.

Police say the purchase was completed on Tuesday and three suspects were arrested without incident in Mississauga, west of Toronto.

Officers seized an MAK-90 machine-gun, a magazine and 100 rounds of ammunition.

Jason Baldwin, 28, of no fixed address, Eden Hamilton, 26, of Mississauga, and Karl Largie, 26, of no fixed address, face a number of firearms charges, including trafficking a firearm.

....... funny, MAK-90 is not a machine gun at all. it's a semi-automatic sporting rifle.

DeadlySones 11-26-2009 07:01 AM

This is what I found out about this MAK-90:

Stands for Modified AK-1990. Semi-auto modified 'Sporting Rifle' version of the AKM and AK-47 assault rifle. Mostly manufactured in China by NORINCO. Internal functioning of rifle is the same as the AKM, except the hammer and trigger grouping for semi-auto, and there is no hammer retarder for full auto fire. Post ban MAK-90 rifles have a "sporter thumb hole stock" due to the ban on pistol grip assault rifles. Rifle fires mostly the Russian AK and SKS 7.62x39 round, but some rifles have been produced to fire the 5.45x39 Russian AK-74 round.

Still definitely a dangerous weapon in the wrong hands. Now I don't know that they might have legal firearm licenses and were just trying to sell a gun they no longer wanted. :dunno:

There is ALWAYS 2 sides to every story. I'm going to follow this event to see what happens. It's definitely interesting info. Rifle looks mean, and a little over the top for a hunting rifle. lol

the rifles can be easily modified into full auto tho...but who knows, maybe it was just some "thugs" selling a "machine gun" to what they hoped was a stupid buyer and couldnt tell the difference.

fresh1 11-26-2009 09:43 AM

maybe they just listened to a Westside Connection CD and kept hearing them say Mack 10, so figured MAK 90 was 9 times more dangerous

on the flipside, that mellisa chick on cp24 in the mornings is smokin

Father Yuli 11-26-2009 01:49 PM

Paul that's a sporting rifle, not a hunting one. But if you knew what kind of "sporting rifles" you can buy legally and take home, for $2g's you can buy a rifle that blows this one away.

you can make most guns automatic, i just dont think idiots selling a gun to an undercover cop are capable or have the know-how to make gun like this full auto.

lol Mack 10 is a uzi variation which is full auto so you are probably right.

Just got this, thought we would share.

It's always nice to have both sides of the story and the lady is right. The media never tells it all. I commend her for sending that message to our admin and you for sharing. :appl:

I hope this all works out for you and your husband. :) Good luck.

So the link to the Peel Police Department and their media release is incorrect?

Peel Regional Police | Media Archive

This is a Police media release, not a tv or newspaper release and i highly doubt that the information is incorrect.

Now given that they were to have a court appearance yesterday and had been held in custody, does anyone know the outcome of their court appearance? To be fair as well, the Police media release states "a number of firearms charges including Trafficking a Firearm".

At the end of the day, the guys got arrested, held in custody and charged with some kind(s) of offence(s). For a random lady to come onto the site, claiming to be who she is claiming to be and tell us that the Police have it all wrong with no documented support otherwise, well, I will draw my own conclusions and they most certainly do not support her at this time.

Regardless, I believe that the admins should add outside info. Regardless of, if she is who she says she is or not, it's the best way to keep things subjective. I'm going to continue researching this, I want to see how it ends up. Still a very interesting case, none-the-less. :)
