I now have a new-found respect for Jensen subs,
WOW, I had a spare 12" sub box, and I wanted to get rid of it, so I went to Cash Converters off of Bow Trail here in Calgary, and picked up this Jensen 12" sub for $15. (I couldn't refuse, for $15, why not eh?)
But I threw it in the 28 liter (1 ft3) sealed box, and gave it whirl. It sounds suprising good for what I was expecting. its T/S parimeters didn't exactly impress me... in the least, a whooping 125 watts RMS! But it sounded quite musical. Its LOUD too for a cheapo subwoofer, shook my car really well, didn't hit especially low, but not bad, Handled that Bass Mekanik: "Blockbuster" song really well
I was using a Kicker 500SI, one that I just bought off of another CCA member in town, But the cool thing is, is that I was stuffing about 500 watts RMS into that Sub, off of one channel, it was nuts. It just kept on taking it, and taking it, and taking it. After about half an hour, on my way home today, I stopped to check on it, it was fine, coil wasn't heating at all, no signs of wear as I pushed in the cone.
I'm going to give it another try after Supper, This time I just bridged the amp, So I'll try to stuff the full 1300 watts RMS into it , and see what happens. I cant wait.
The one I have, doesn't seem to be bad at all, if given a good amp.

umm.. what amp do you have ?
If its the one Iam thinking of you are looking at more like 200wrms x 2 at 4ohm....
yea, so if you bridge it down I bet it wont take long to blow the sub... and its usually not a good idea to purposly overdrive a woofer even if you dont care about it... you may end up with a blown amplifier....

Uh? yeah Haunz, whatever pal. Dont worry about it. I think I know this amp better then you, no, its 500 RMSx2 @4ohms , bridged its 1300x1 into 4 ohms. Thanks anyway, I own it, I think I'd know.
Anyway, I didn't test it the amp at when I was playing the sub as hard as it could go, so Im quite sure I wasn't stuffing any more then 700 into it (or so), I wasn't using a PLD1. But man, it sure rocked, wow. It can't take it all, like I have to be really careful, just simple bass tones, nothing special. THis song "Reddimade" by Bass Mekanik really works well with it, its mainly high bass, no lower end stuff. (it over-excursions itself when it goes too low) But it can really handle LOTS of higher end frequencies, like around 60hz, and above. But given too much power, I finally hear the coil whack againest the rear plate, so it has its limits (obviously!!) Its a great sub for $15. Im really impressed. I'd never buy any Jensen subs, for anything else, but this was kind of an exception. But it sure is good stuff I found for the price. I used to have a 10" version of this sub, it was even more impressive, but I blew it years ago, since my little amp was clipping so badly, I finally cooked the coil.
Good stuff eh?

I'd LOVE to put it on a Termpro, just to see what its doing. Maybe if its impressive, like mid 130's, then I'll give it a whirl at the competitions just for the fun of it. Its quite loud though, so I'd love to find out just what its doing.
btw Haunz, the amp has three 40amp maxifuses. I think its pretty safe to say that it does more then 200 RMS x2

SPL Doughnut-Haunz is a little more realistic in his power outputs then you are, the amp does 250Wx2 @ 4 ohms, and 850W Mono, thats it, thats all...
