I found out yesterday that I have been accepted into the Autobody Pre-employment course I applied for at S.A.I.T. and now I gotta give my 2 weeks notice at my job which I hate with an unholy passion. But heres the problem, i hate what Im doing at this job and curse everything I have to do, BUT my boss is the nicest lady I have ever met....if she wasnt my boss chances are I would have quit looong loooong ago.
So now Im kinda scared to give her my 2 weeks notice, I dont want her to take it personally oh and she just told me that her and her husband just bought themselfs a 2 week vacation in the Dominican and they leave on Feb. 13 so Im pretty sure my unseen departure is gonna bugger up her holiday.
I have to give my 2 weeks, but Im scared too

I would say if you have some sort of paperwork to show her rather than going in and looking like maybe you just making an excuse to quit,if she is really as nice as you say,she should understand a little better.
I've been in the same boat and just took my boss the paperwork...no problems..
just my 2 cents

Dear Mrs. ** *****:
It is with regret that this letter is to inform you that I hereby give you two weeks' notice of my intention to leave my position as Shipper/Salesman.
I have decided to realize my professional and personal goals by accepting a formal offer to study for a degree in Auto Body Repair. This was not an easy decision and took a lot of consideration but I believe it is an exciting step forward and one that I hope you will understand and support. Please be assured that I will do all I can to assist in the smooth transfer of my responsibilities before leaving.
Should you have any need for my skills in the future, I would of course consider returning once I have completed my studies. I have very much enjoyed working with you and the skills you have taught me and I wish both you and Polytubes every good fortune and I would like to thank you once again for having me at Polytubes
Yours sincerely,
Logan Lundy

Your letter is very good and is the proper way to handle the situation. You will likely have an opportunity to discuss things further face to face when you hand her your letter of resignation.
If she is as cool a lady as you make her out to be, she should have no issues with you furthering your education and realizing your personal and professional goals. You might be surprised to find that you get heartfelt encouragement.
Go for it, and best of luck!

She may be pissed off anyways. But your best off not to burn your bridges. You never know, you might have to go back so you don't want to come to work drunk, throw a beer bottle at somobody and thell them take that job and shove it. Not a good idea.
Your boss sounds like a nice person and a nice gesture may be in order, like taking her and her husband out to dinner, level with her 'I hate the job but my boss made it tolerable...' Just a thought it could be a good option in some situations.
sorry to get off topic, but is this a new progam you are getting into. is it like school first, work later deal, meaning its not an apprenticehsip, where you have to earn your hours to go to school? it sound interesting
