OK so as you probably all know by now (with all my questions) i'm lookin at a new set of wheels. I'm getting a pretty smoking deal on these wheels and im about 80% sure all is legit heh. I'm currenlty waiting for buddy to email me back on this but in you professional opinions:is that just dirt around the center of each wheel or is that gouges n scrapes?

I'm leaning towards dirt just caused that'd be quite the scratch/gouge and strange that it's on all 4 wheels. But i need some reassurance.

see wheels here

could it be that plastic-y type laminate stuff on wheels thats coming off from winter use?

fazes 07-20-2004 01:44 AM

they are scrapes...and some of them are down to the rim

the top left one appears to be dirty though...dunno for sure

Looks to me like the protective coating has worn at the centres and the metal is starting to oxidize.

yeah the clear coat has lifted or been scraped off there

you won't "wipe" them off if that's what you're asking........

you can have them polished/refinished at a wheel shop

not sure what it would cost in your neck of the woods , but kelvins tire and wheel in saskatoon charges about 75 dollars per wheel

dodge is right, the clearcoat has come off at the edge where the cnter cap is, a very common problem with wheels like that, i suspect they were used in the winter, but could be wrong, the only way to fix is to have them repolished and recleared which means keep ookng for new wheels unless you are getting those ones for 1.99$ each, cuz thats what they are worth if you ever want them to look good

^Pretty normal stuff.

I'd suggest getting them polished along with no protective coating.

I'm serious.

Then every couple months just take a wet SOS pad to the wheels to take thre brake dust off.

Derek Jerome 07-20-2004 07:02 AM

yeah don't get them clear coated again ...... just polished ......... that clear always flakes off or turns yellow

mothers mag wheel polish works wonders on polished wheels

not much looks better than a properly maintained polished wheel, but not much looks worse than one that isnt.

hmm you say it's generally $75 to have a wheel refinished.

He'd sell me those 4+ 1 good wheel for $125 i believe, then it'd be min 80 shipping hmmm....
