Minor knee injury...anything to worry about

Hey folks, was playing hockey a while back..err about 2 weeks ago, went down to make a save, and took a slapshot off the inside front of the kneecap. Then i got ran over by their forward, but the main thing is i made the save. Everyone thought i was hurt cause i wasn't moving...but i was just in awe that my knee hurt so much.

Anywho, it swelled up pretty quickly, and i realized on the next save moving accross the internet how much it hurt to then go down on that knee. Not like a joint or tendon pain, just owe, swollen poking a bruise.

So anywho, my knee was a bit bigger the next couple days and kinda still. The thing that makes me wonder is my knee gets sore if it sits in the same position for a while. Likewise it cracks a lot more. If i've got it bent for a while then i go to stand up, i can kinda feel things inside move...and then crack....and i'm good...althoguh it's still sore.

Is it likely just a bruise and cause it's still swollen a bit...aka i'm a pansy? Or is it possible there's something more to it that i should actually wonder down to a doctor for?

I also suggest going to your doctor, Something similar happened to my dad, but he thought he would wait until it was better, but, he did, he thought it was better, after like a couple months, and then he goes to play soccer, and bang, he ripped his knee up pretty bad. Go to your doctor, Do Not Try And Do Anything Active! Or you'll just hurt yourself even more.

Hmmm don't do anything active....lil late to say i'm still playin and have a number of games this week. Ah well. 7 games in 11 days coming up.

Alright i'll hit up a walk in clinic one of these days, maybe thurs....see what they can do for me.

I play full time on a team in the Icebox league (outta the icebox on winterburn road), part time in the ECHL with a buddy from work, and then our Stantec company team go's in a tourney here n there. Apparenlty i'm johnny on call for a coed team this summer, sketchy, but apparenlty a couple not to bad at all broads, which i'm kinda stoked about.

Pass me your arm, I will make you forget all about that knee. Aside from that, a anti inflammatory of some kind and you might just have a fracture as well. The trip to the clinic might confirm that.

I'm a big fan of beer leagues...did the double AA when organizations were big enough and what not, but there was so much politics, i skipped midget just to play beer leagues.

My team is div 4, the other one i play on is either 3 or 4 not sure. There's no hitting, but somewhat decent hockey. The stantec team is generally better, but we don't play together that that much.

So back to the doctor thing with the knee. If i do go to the doc and he says it is a small fracture or something....whats the treatment gonna be, stay off it for a while?

Basically yes, a knee brace might be in order to keep the pressure off of it.
