3 guys stop at a motel, and when they pay the bellboy he charges then $30.00. $10 each.
After they get their room, the manager questions the bellboy.....it should have only been $25.00 for the room....go give them back their $5. The bellboy has no clue how to split $5 into 3 ways, so he pockets $2 and gives them each back $1. So...each guy paid $9.......times 3 is $27....the bellboy has $2....that makes $29.... Where did the other $1 go? |
$2 that bellboy kept is already accounted for in the $27 they paid since they were only supposed to pay $25. the $2 that he jooked has to be subtracted from the $27, not added to it since they only have to pay $25
so, they pay $25 which is what the room costs, they get $3 back ($1 each) and the bellboy has the other $2. looks like it all eaquals $30 bux to me. someone's math was wrong unless this took place in a country like Ukraine or something where money looses value by the second, so in that case that just could have been inflation. Joe is 24. He is twice as old as Bill was when Joe was as old as Bill is now. How old is Bill? |

|
Does he get another cookie?
|
Nope
|
sorry i did a mistake in my math
if u assume x to be the age difference between the 2 dudes: 24-x = 12+x 24-12 = 2x x=6 24-6 = 18 last time i forgot to do the 2x. looks like university education is paying off, i am now able to solve grade 6 math problems like this one. [ December 14, 2005, 10:45 AM: Message edited by: Prolifik ] |
