by no means will i be giving up easily
You are fooked, you have A name and address, not necessarily HIS name and address.Yes it is mail fraud but you are also I hate to say, the one that decided to take the plunge and accept the risk. Once the money order is written, it is deemed payable and cashable. I really don't see much recourse for you here I hate to say. While a call to his local PD may be the right thing to do, chances are that you will be told it is a civil case and crossing borders makes it that much more difficult.

ANYONE in my shoes probably would have felt safe dealing with his credentials. like i said, its still not 100% as to whether or not he's a scammer or not, just a possibiity at this time
let me hear how a pro like yourself makes a transaction? paypal ???? haha
in case you havent read an earlier thread, 4-5 guys just got scammed from a a@@hole you took $2000 or more, so sometimes paypal is no more safer. if your paypal account wasnt funded with a credit card, youre out of luck also coz you can only do a chargeback with a cc
IMO, safest transaction is paypal, NOT connected to a bank account, only to your credit card. Then, you have paypal for level 1 of protection. If paypal screws you as well, then you have your credit card company. I have a Royal platnium card for this purpose, despite Royal's general PITA behaviour their purchase protection is bulletproof. Even if this fails then you can go after the CC company legally to meet their obligations. Plus, all your recourse against the fradulant seller.
With a MO, all you have is legal recourse against the seller, which is unreliable and takes time.

has anyone had success getting money back from a scam/scammer who lived in the U.S. and went through the FTC (federal trade commision) ????
The FTC is the U.S equilvalent as recol.ca in Canada is. recol.ca told me i should call them since the purchase was made to an American
