My Rant.....
In the last week here on the island alone, there has been 1 fatality and two stabbings. The fatality was outside a bar in Nanaimo, 2 brothers did a 20 year old kid in, beat him to death. Here in town one guy was knocked unconscious and 2 guys were stabbed, one guy was airlifted to Victoria and is still on life support, the other guy is in hospital here in Comox. The guy that did the deed, gone. While yes there was a story as to what happened and the guy that did the stabbing was then fighting for his life, what makes it alright to carry a knife of this size and use it? In all cases here on the island and the two (if they are different ones) in Alberta, it was young males under the age of 25, all intoxicated and all at a bar and all looking for a fight. So what is the common thing here guys?

horrible story to hear about your brother. But stabbings and shootings from bar fights are really nothing new. Common sense would have told them just to get the hell outta there.
Fighting is fine if two(or more) people have a problem and want to settle it in an organized fashion. Stuff rarely goes wrong to the extent that your brother encountered. Fighting at the bar is overrated...bars are for booze and not fighting.
But then again im in BC...AB is a totally different story. Rigs make people crazy

I carry two
But, and maybe I have just been incredibly lucky, but I have never been in a bar fight. Most people left me alone and I left them alone. Yes I have had to back away a couple of times but I figure it's better to be humble than hospitalized..
It just all goes to show you that testerone( sorry guys) and drinking dont go well together. It seems like the combination of the two never plays well. Times are changing and everyone thinks they have something to prove. It really doesn't seem to matter wheter you are in a small or large urban centre things happen.
I work in an ER in a large city, I hate hearing the pharse "bar fight". Cuz you know it all could have been stopped had someone decided that they would just walk away. I guess it takes a lot more brains then ***** to realize when to be a man and just walk away.
But hey...im just a girl...I really dont understand boys that well...lol

Presently I am encouraging our bar to equip us with a metal detecting wand. After a couple of weeks or so of constant awareness and the patrons being constantly swept at the door, this should minimalize or close to emininate this kind of activity taking place in our bar. Now to prevent the guy who empties a can of bear spray in the door next (and yes that has happened).
I worked in a hospital also before starting with the OPP. Drunks are easily the worst to deal with as they're even more unpredictable than someone with mental health problems.
And yet many of use can go out and drink and not be a dumbass about it. IMO maturity is a big part of this. I've got a few buddies with their pro cards in MMA and travel the world to fight and they don't go out looking for trouble at bars. I'm a bodybuilder and I never have a problem at bars even though I have to be "instant boyfriend" to my female friends when the wierd guys hit on them.
Unfortunately I do see the same type of cowardly acts here in Ontario and I really do find it pathetic.
B2B - I truly hope your brother and his friend have a full recovery.
ltlepinkescort - Women can do sober what men need alcohol to accomplish. You silly chicks with your cattyness and your mood swings; you're all crazy!
(but I like'm a little crazy anyways

LOL..thanks Hrdwrk. I dont argue with you on that point we are a all just a lil off. I know that women are a lot more tactless and brutual without adding in the other factors! It just seems that booze and other substances just arent great additives to anyone that feels they need to prove themselves!
