Ok so I need an amp to power my dual 1ohm SX 18s which are in 14cubic feet ported to 28hz... My current 100watt realistic amp isn't nearly enough and bothering my father to sell me one of his peavey 2000X's did not work out for me... [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Iam basically looking for lots of clean power at 2ohms... (or 4ohms bridged) on a somewhat limited budget..

I already have an active crossover so thats not necassarilly something I need with my amp...

Will easily run at 2 ohms/ch. all day long.... need to feed it a solid 30A AC, but other than that.... thing is a brute. If that isn't in your budget, grab a Yorkville AP-6020 (2500Wrms into 2 ohms stereo), can be had at your nearwst Long and McQuade for less than $2000.

As a word of caution.... don't let either one clip......

Well Crown is obviously nice stuff

If I could find a suitable Crown 2nd hand I'd probably jump on it.. I think that particular model might be more power then I need, though... [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Iam looking for around 2Kw but I would certainly jump on a larger amp if I found a deal...

Can anyone comment on how much power the SX subwoofers can take playing compressed bass for long periods of time ???? (Iam guessing 1500 each is the most I could safely feed them)

I've seen used 2kw amplifiers go for as little as $250-300 each... but I can never seem to find those deals... [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img]

you would not believe how amazing these new power amps are. They eat McIntosh for lunch it seems.. I was speechless at the dynamics and soundstage of these amps. They are just unworldly. We hooked one up to a $12k pair of B&W's... and were just blown away.. they are SO good..

I can get at-cost pricing if you want.. a good friend is a dealer for Yamaha amoung others.. thats how I heard these.

 

BTW... Krell makes the best amps out there.. but you pay for them. they're stupidly expensive.. but if you want the best:

Rated for 1000rms they are fine in most enclosure's up to 1500rms.

If you're on a limited budget I don't think you're going to find a better deal than that Behringer while still getting a quality product.
You might find some decent used deals out there but then you have no wartranty.
