Hello,

It is currently Monday August 1st and I just found out Canadian Tire basically screwed my GF by claiming they checked for a headgasket leak when, in fact, they didn't.

So, she has now driven about 500km on an engine with a greatly leaky coolant system and she almost positively needs a headgasket replaced.

This is where (ideally) the CCA community comes in. My GF is very mechanically declined and I will be in Windsor when everything opens again. So, I need help with getting her car to a reputable mechanic, ideally not too expensive, and who can get her car in and out as fast as possible. It currently runs 'fine' but I wouldn't want her to drive more than across the city in it's current state.

If it is of any consequence, the vehicle is a '94 Cavalier 2.2L. If ANYONE knows a good place to go, please let me know.

Regards,
Ettore Casagrande

the 2.2 chevy head is bad for warpage, and i'd suggest having it milled when it's out(checked for cracks).
i also think the head bolts are torque to yield, so they'll need to be changed too

wow, didn't realize that i'm golden toque

The milling (if required) would be a shop call. If it needs it, it'll go for machining.

As for head bolts, it's pretty much standard GM protocol to change the head bolts; I think GM uses those torque to yield bolts on everything. They're also quite cheap so why not.

So, still looking for suggestions on shops. Doesn't have to be a friend, just a shop that you went to and they were nice and fair would be appreciated. Not looking for this job to be free, just reasonable.
