Need some TV buying help....

IM buying a new tv, looking to get an LCD or Plasma I have a budget of about $2500-$2700 and am looking for something thats about 42". Each have their own pros and cons, the TV's I am looking at are Sony & Sharp LCD's and Panasonic Plasmas. They are all in the same price range but I have also been looking at LG plasma and LCD's I like their look and the price as well they are about $500 cheaper.

Anyone have any input, I have heard some bad things about Samsung, Toshiba and LG plasmas but dont know how much to read into it, like I said I have a $2500-$2700 budget but if I dont have to spend it all great.

Thanks.........

Sony & Sharp LCD and Panasonic plasma, can't go wrong with those choices.

I would go with the Plasma and Panasonic for sure.

http://www.highdefforum.com/ for more info and feedback.

As far as Samsung Plasma's, you heard correct, at least regarding the ED models, so far no probs with the HD models.

Absolutely no probs with any version of the Panasonic plasma's ED or HD models

Lightbulb

Personally I would stick to a DLP rear projo..

If you want skinny though, go for the plasma - I have yet to see an LCD that didn't look, well, like an LCD..

I'm in the same situation as you and from what I've been told and seen the 3 best are Philips, Hitachi and Panasonic.

Philips apparently, is building THE best LCD, but non of the big box stores really carry them and the ones that do never set them up right so they look good.

It's one thing to buy an LCD or Plasma screen, but it's gotta be set up right too.

From everything Ive seen the new generations of LCD have much much better blacks in them and have eliminated most fo the greys, the new Sonys are kick *** as far as that goes but whew pricey.

DLP rear projos are nice, but the picture quality isnt as nice unless you get into an LCD projection not to mention the veiwing angle isnt as good as say a plasma and the upper models of DLP are about as much as the flat panels.

Besides I already designed all the shelving and electrical outlets in the new house to be set up for a flat panel.
