We just bought a new house and it already has the projection screen painted on the wall in the theater room, what do you guys suggest for a projector? I dont know much about them, so any info is welcome. Price is not a concern, let me know what out there. Thanks.

Are you looking for one of those Computer Type Projectors, or specifically one designed for television like the 'projection tvs' ?

The type you mount on the roof and shine on a screen for watching movies etc, same as a movie theater, only in my house...

Oh alright, try Future Shop?

Don't try Future Shop. They nainly deal with Data projectors. It will depend on what you want to use it for. If you want to use it as a television as well as for movies, look for something with HD resolution (720P). If the room is lighting controlled, don't let anyone sell you on one technology (LCD,DLP) as there are good projectors from both camps. Try to avoid a budget brand as the performance isn't there and you can expect trouble in the future (poor reliability, expensive parts). Don't get hung up on specs either as those fudged more than power ratings for audio gear. Look for something in your price point, and try it out. Find a store with a good return policy and stick with them. Take a unit home and watch a couple of movies, some tv and see how it performs. If you like it, keep it. I wouldn't reccomend anything under $2000 unless you can get a decent sale price on one. These will usualy be a 480P resolution. Check out Toshiba, Hitachi, Sony, Knoll and Infocus for some good product.
next step up will be in the $4000 pricepoint. This will get you a 720P resolution, HD projector. Check out the: http://hitachi.ca/forhome/PJ-TX100.html

and the:

Both great values for an HD projector. If you want to spend more than that, look at redoing your room with a proper screen and lighting or you won't get the benfits of an uber-expensive projector.
If money is no object, get one of these:

Looks like you got some good advice already

A friend of mine just bought a Dell Projector, and has been totally impressed so far...

Dells are Data projectors. They will be native 4x3, overly bright, poor black levels and come with an unuser friendly remote. Not to mention the menu system and adjustment's will be geared towards a boardroom/office and NOT a theatre.

Kilowatt come by the store one day Thursday-Monday. I have 4 mounted and setup in our sound room. You can check out the BenQ, Hitachi, Sony and Philips with out being forced into buying. Just take a look and see if thats the way you wanna go. No pressure and if you do want one, I'll hook you up with a stellar CCA deal.
