So...i've got the frames picked out.

A-Wire 2.0 flex frames, from oakley.

Now the problem is choosing between lens'!

I can do a darker titanium colored frame with a titanium iridium which go's for $250US or i can do a more silver frame with a polarized blue lens which go's for $210US?

johnny at the shop said the all around better set was the titanium/titanium iridium....but i'm debating these polarized ones?

(also my bro has a set of these same sunglasses with a brighter blue lens already....fairly close to the polarized blue lens i have in my choice.....don't wanna look too much like him!)

my buddy has a pair of orange ones, and they're hella tight....but if you can't get the orange, I'd take polarized

orange was also an option those firey type lens but i just don't like those as much heh


whats so good about polarized? just that it basically eliminates glare?

i'd got for polarized.. my prescription sunglasses are polarized, and they're awesome.. everything seems so much sharper, and colours look more colourful.

Polarized is the way to go. It is the best method of protecting your eyes from UV radiation. It also helps you see fish underwater. IMO, polarization is not a gimmick.

I myself opted for a pair of Revo sunglasses by Luxxotica. Oakley's are real nice, but none of them fit my stupid face, haha.

Do NOT go polorized. IN this case take the Iridium. Its basically Oakley's best lense. It cuts down glare and causes alot less stress on your eyes. I have two pairs of Oakley's, one with Gold Iridium and the other with Fire. The Fire "tints" and the Gold Iridium just takes the glare out and makes things hella clear.

Uhhhh.

Go to the Oakley website and you can see the actual light transmission profiles for the various lenses you have chosen. Based on that, decide which lens would best suit what you are going to be doing most of the time while wearing them. I personally have three pair, the ice iridium, black iridium and fire. I use the ice or black iridium when it is a bright day. I use the fire when it is cloudy as it increases the contrast. For Oakley sunglasses polarization will generally reduce the amount of light transmission by a small amount (maybe 1%-2%) relative to a comparative lens. However, if you look at their lens transmission graphs, you will note that there is no difference in UV transmission. Its 0% either way. Personally, I see no benefit to polarization in Oakleys but that is just me.

I do ...I do!

They are a special lens that reduce surface glare by cutting down on mostlight that is reflected up. Main sources of reflected light are water, snow and sand....so if you plan on being around any of those polarized lenses are the way to go. Infact, without them you are not reducing the reflected light very well, and therefore not protecting your eyeballs.

Polarized works very well.

yeah...by the looks of things the titanium iridium lens have 10% transmission while the polarized have 9% transmission so not really a big difference....but the titanium iridiums do have increased contrast!

I think i'm gonna go with the titanium iridium lens....even if they are a lil more cash! Talked to the lady at work that orders the glasses told me the iridium's are oakleys top lens and that the polarized was basically old school. (she may have meant the titanium iridium).

But anywho, i guess titanium iridium or middle ones in the pic above is how i'll go
