so i found a source for a couple parts for my car.... trouble is he is in new york, and he doesnt have paypal.

I'm going to send him a money order for 50 bucks. what additional steps may i take to do this safely?

send a cheque... it's a little more expensive to send a cheque in US funds, but you can cancel a cheque, and can tell if he cashes it.

You really have no options if he tries to screw you. No police officer is going to investigate an international case involving $50. It's pretty much buyer beware.

Find an escrow service? That is about the only other option I can think of.

try and find a mediator...a middle man that you can both agree on who can hold the money and the product until the transaction is made. it's probably not going to be easy in your situation, but it's another suggestion....

I like to get people's phone number and talk to them on the phone for a while. Seems to help out a bit to see what kinda person they are.
