I just park my car and get out and this purple dodge caravan stops in front of me and he goes hey man want some speakers? I say no and he like "Cmon I'll show you these..I gotta unload these or my boss will have my ***. He's like they cost $3000, I'll give them ot you for a few hundred.

So he parks the van and goes to show me these (parked his van where i was gonna walk) and they (another guy hops out of the van) and they start telling how they're from Scarborough and show me some invwentory sheet (Sheet was from NAtural Sound in Toronto).

They open the side door and theres 6 boxes of some Pro Audio speaker...they looked ok..but I keep telling them I have Klipsch towers and I'm happy with them and he is like "1000 watts man, 1000 watts.

After telling them while walking away I'm not interested, they finally start their van up and drive away.

I finally been stopped by 2 guys in a van trying to sell me stuff. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Careful Zach; there was a story in the news locally not too long ago where a couple of guys in a van were trying to sell audio equip. They convinced some guy to buy and when the money came out he got plunked in the head, money stolen, and the bad guys were outta there.

Not saying they're the same guys, but...

 

Ya i have had that happen to me. maybe i am magnet for this stuff i dont know. but it is the same guy in a white van saying the same story as what you said and i just tell him no. I called the cops one time on them but i dont know what happened b/c of it.

 

I've had this one happen to me, it's pretty funny actually.
Someone I work with got taken by this but refuses to admit it. Arond here this use a script where they say the speakers are the ones CityTv uses (station in Toronto) and they have extras. Well happened to a buddy of mine cause he game me the Citytv line and I'm like u get those outta a van man, and started to laugh. He got all mad and was like no man what are you talking about blah blah.

I know 3 people who bought the exact same speaker towers out of a van.. 2 8s and piezos in particle board box w grey carpet and a 'KLH' badge... [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

If you wanted some cheap speakers you can probably talk these bozos down... one guy said he paid $150 which isn't awfull for what he got...

But ya right, 1000 watts and retail for $3K, eh... come and let me hook them to my car amp buddy..

 

That's why ya alway's by brand new and not out of a van. atleast brand new you know what your getting. but if it's a trusted friend then you can alway's take the risk of buying used.

Brand new crap, but still brand new. What I think you're trying to say is buy stuff that's a name brand and in a retail store. I would agree with that.
