Telus MP3 phones

Hey all,

I have a Telus LG cell phone that is MP3 compatible, but as anyone that has one knows, their music selection is absolute crap. Is there any way to download your own music either from CD's or from other music files onto these phones? I pay for all my downloads, but the Telus site leaves a LOT to be desired...

Am I (we) SOL?

yes there is, all you need to is transfer your mp3 songs onto the right memory card for your phone. the first time you put the card in the phone it will creat 4 folders. now make sure you have a card reader either in your pc or go and buy one. and a memory card for the phone is a must lol. and also make sure you copy your music straight into the folder that says my_music.
and you can also put movies on the card, pictures and sounds. make sure its all in the right foldres though.

You could also get a data cable and just copy to the phone's internal memory.

Data cables can be found all over eBay for about $10.

got my data cable off ebay for about $4 i believe. It's super duper slow even to transfer small ring tones...a whole song would be rediculous.

A memory card is definitely the way to go. You can get a 1gb card for like $50. Usually the mini sd cards will come with an sd attachment, then you just either need the card reader, or i (for my first pc) bought a usb thumb drive type thingy that the sd card plugs into. Then the thumb drive thing into a usb slot and it transfers nice n fast.

Getting the cable however gives you the ability to put ring tones and edit the file system of your phone using the right software (thoguh it's recommended you be careful so as to not wreck your phone heh).

OK, I tried copying the files onto the miniSD card in the "my music" folder, but it says the folder is write protected. Is this something my phone set up in the folder to prevent this kind of thing? Can I get around it somehow? The phone is an LG 8100 IIRC.

Any further help would be much appreciated.
