So....i decided to actually download some music thru telus, since they sent me an email about it. It downloads in wma format, which i'm not a big fan of, no problem, i can just convert it!

So i pay like $13 to get all the songs (9)...which is a bit of a ripoff now that i think about it, go to convert them and it says i can't convert them cause they're DNR protected.

What the **** is the point of paying money to some company to download music if they're gonna put **** in to protect the music to the point where you can't even ****in convert it to a different format???

If only i can find where to send an email to at telus....i'll give them a what for....

on that note, definitely do not even think about paying for music from telus - BRUTAL.

Why would you pay anyway? There are still plenty of great free P2P programs that I can find almost anything on.

Still that is pretty ghey that you can't convert them. There is probably some program out there though that can work around that protection.

Did you think that maybe they won't let you convert it because it would then make it easier for you to pirate/share them?

They're probably just trying to cover their own butts.

it's still .wma format....they explain how you can burn them....i can share **** in wma format if i want.

I paid cause they gave me a $10 gift certificate, so i had to put in about $2 for it all, and it's a hard to find cd to download.

Thats beside the point though.

Maybe they should say in their FAQ section that, these songs files are downloaded in WMA format and you cannot change that cause we're gay! or put that in as a caution sign before people spend good money to get screwed over.

I used the free coupon also and was choked when I couldn't do anything with the files. I took them to work and they wouldn't even play (invalid license).

I download some music. Mostly all FLAC CD's or DTS cd's from suprnova.org with bittorrent. I hate compression and refuse to ever pay for that crap. Sometimes mp3's have to hold me over before I can go buy the actual cd in the store for a fraction more then you paid to download your protected version.

i normally use bittorrent lol, but the cd wasn't on there and hard to find.

Turns out after searching all over the telus site, i found a spot where it says their music is license protected, so that you can only burn it 3 times etc.

"Listen:
You can listen to your music downloads as many times as you like from the computer that holds the purchased license.
Burn:
You can burn your music downloads to CD 3 times.
Transfer:
You can transfer your music downloads an unlimited number of times to 3 separate portable devices

Once you purchase a music download from Puretracks, you are given a license for its use. All Puretracks downloads are encrypted with technology that controls the usage of the song. Each download contains only one license. This license will only be active on the computer to which the song is downloaded. For this reason, it is important that you purchase and download your music using your primary computer. Once you have downloaded a song, you will be able to listen, burn, or transfer from only that computer. "

wish i woulda went scrounging the website lookin for some sort of dumb restrictions like that earlier.
