That looks like the ROBOT from ROBOCOP.
The military has some new ROBOTIC technology, what it does is helps a SOLDIER increase his CARRYING WEIGHT, I do not know what the average weight for a soldier is but assuming 100-150 LBS of extra equipment weight.
What it is a ROBOTIC legs attached to EACH SIDE of the SOLDIERS LEGS. These robotic legs move with the same movement as the SOLDIERS LEGS.
With this equipment the soldier is able to carry a HEAVIER LOAD---Possibly an extra 300LBS..which is good if you'd like to carry more AMMO, or carry a wounded soldier off the Battle feild...I saw it on Discovery channel.
They plan on making a smaller more powerfull version in the next year for testing.
