well ......the local guy in flin flon was within a hundred bucks of Ncix before shipping on the last 2 computers I had built( one for me, one for my mom) ........he put em together for free and installed all the software, all the time he saved me there was well worth the difference in price
since I got the computers from him if my mom has any troubles she can just go down and see him and he give's her real good service .... not having her bother me with little crap on her computer is priceless

I don't see the comparison, there is no such thing as an authorized dealer for the vast majority of computer parts.

'Authorized' has nothing to do with it because most customers don't really care. They just want to save some money.
When the 'audio' guys are on here all they keep talking about is how you're killing the local retailer by purchasing on line.
That has nothing to do with authorization.

</font>
As the last few people have mentioned, almost every online computer site also has a real life store you can go to. Authorized has everything to do with it. Authorized Car Audio dealers have to agree to pricing guidelines in most situations so they aren't cutting other authorized dealers throats.
The problem in car audio is etailers that are getting their gear grey market, then not maintaining a store with all of it's associated costs, and then selling the gear for a profit of a few bucks, thereby undercutting traditional brick and mortars by large amounts.
On a side note, nice to see that an admin can't keep personal attacks out of his arguement.

</font>
I'm not an admin....
.. The whole argument behind people like you (that wasn't too personal, was it?) is that buying off the 'net kills the local retailer.
Buying computer parts off the net kills local computer stores. I would know, I lost my job a few years ago because the store had to close.
Oh, and your argument about on-line car audio retailers only buying grey-market is BS.
Sounddomain is authorised to sell their products. As is Crutchfield. As is my business. Yet I'm still called "scum" and I'm a "slap in the face to local retailers". Then any user who comes on to this board asking about purchasing from authorised businesses gets their head ripped off.
In both industries there are legitimate companies who get their products through the regular channels, just like there are shady companies who will do anything to make a buck.
I guess it's nice to only be able to pick out SOME of the facts to help your argument.

Mod, admin, you know what the point of that comment was.
It's so nice of you to instead of reading my arguement that you lump it in with a completely different one. I personally don't think every online retailer is a scumbag. Some are, some aren't. Authorized dealers selling product at or above authorized prices who offer proper support are not. Some guy working out of his basement selling gear for a $5 margin and telling people to **** off when they need help is.
If you can explain what the problem with NCIX is, a store that maintains multiple locations and then also sells their product online with delivery, I'd like to hear it.
I like the way you think it's ok to qualify an insult with "like you." So, when I don't agree with someone I can say "well only a slackjawed idiot like you would think that."?
