Exclamation Who do you bank with and how satisfied are you with them?

Hey Folks,

This may very well be an impossible question, but i'm gonna ask anyways. Who do you bank with and how satisfied with them are you? Assuming you're comfortable giving the info out, what do you do with them? i.e. personal banking, visa, business, rrsp's, etc etc.

My bank, as of tomorrow, will be going on 1 month to refinance a loan. Essentially paid off 18k of a loan and want to get payments down from 700/month to about 200/month so I can afford to live. I've had a few phone calls and drop-in's to check on the status, but nothings been done. Tomorrow, I'm scheduled to go in and setup a business account, but I think I might tell them explain it all to me, and just hold off until end of day Friday. If my loan isn't fixed by then I'll be switching banks anyways.

So now my questions, how happy is everyone with their banks, has anyone been extremely happy or unhappy?

I've banked with a few places... here's my experience.

TD - Have been with them since I was about 5 years old. They're just "ok". I've had checking, savings and business accounts with them along with lines of credit, credit cards and loans.

Scotia - Only have limited experience with them (savings account). They were reasonable. Nothing noteworthy.

RBC - Not bad, got a great guy to deal with my account and they were very attentive. I have a chequing account, credit card, line of credit and RRSPs. So far I think I'm happiest with them.

CIBC - Sucks. Their hours of business are bad and they are difficult to get a hold of when I needed them. I've had both a credit card and a mortgage with them.

I've only had two banks:

First account was with TD. Had no real reason to switch from them to RBC other than it was close by when I moved into the city.

RBC, I personally wasn't impressed with. Always had long lines at both the single ATM and 2 tellers. I've heard tellers getting "testy" with customers... They hounded me to switch my mortgage to them, then couldn't even match my rates.

So, I eventually went back to TD and am very pleased with everything from their staff & hours of operation to fees & services.

I'm on TD and i've been decently pleased by them, they seem generally competetant (though some of their locations have quite inconvienient hours).

CIBC is garbage.

Td is convienient because they have tons of locations, their hours are good, and the staff is usually pretty competent. I have a couple credit cards with them though and they always call me trying to sell me stuff for it even though I've opted out at least 5 times.

RBC are "okay". Their hours arent the best no locations really close to me / place of work. Also, they always used to change my limits on me and Id have to call in or go into the bank to have them changed back.

I am pretty pleased with them.
Every single teller I have been to all seem to be happy n bright cheery people. Very helpful at that.

I have used many banks in my day.

Been with RBC over 15 years, they are #1 in my book. #2 would be Scotia bank

Yeah, CIBC does suck.
