amp as hot as fire
amp as hot as fire
so i was driving along and then my 2 speakers started getting a bit staticky when there were turned up high. i never had this problem befor so i decided to pull over and check it out. as i was pulling in my speakers stoped working. as i grabed the amp to take a look, i couldn't even touch it because it was so hot. i disconected all the wire to it and took the cover off but it all looked perfectly fine,it smelled a bit funny tho. the fuse wasn't blow in the amp or the fuse in the distro block. there was no touching of power and ground.
what could of cuased this? the amp a sa80 soundstream and is like 6 years old. im not to worried if its wrecked i have 7 more of them lol

well im using 8 gauge for that amp cause its only pushing 80 watts. and the ground is to the battery, and for impedance, the speakers are 4 ohm 2 way coax. i have been running that amp the same way for years and never had this problem.
so i threw another one of those amps in and changed the power and ground wires to brand new 8g cause i had some new stuff laying around. and played it for an hour and didn't get hot. but the left speaker is super quiet now. it was normal for a few minutes then when back to being quiet. i checked all the speaker wire conects and they look find and the rca cable is in good to the deck and the amp. and i cant find why the one speakers quiet. any help??
