So I was on my way home from Barrie today when my friend and I were approached by 2 women selling some Theatre Research speakers out of their van. Kind of funny really. The one was going on about how she was supposed to deliver 4 pieces and they gave her 4 pairs by mistake. Now she was just selling these to save a hassle. They just happened to give her 2 extra pairs of speakers by accident. She claimed were worth $2500 a pair. Selling for $500.
The funny thing was when she started to go over the specs with us. She's like "they're bi-wireable which means you can run them wireless." Kinda funny actually.
They were rather disappointed in my response to their offer.
I wish there was a way to rid the public of scammers like this.

I fell for it

Sadly, I bought them from a guy but only for $300 CDN (If anyone ever tries to approach me with something like that again, I'm gonna shove those speakers up their a**, and if it don't fit, well too bad) I'm still kind of bitter about it. Happened only 7 months ago.

They're still pulling that scam? I had two guys pull up beside me at a traffic light & try to sell me some about 15 years ago!
I had my '88 CRX then with a decent little system & their opening line to me was:

"Hey, do you like LOUD music?"

i have been stopped by the white van myself....funny when it happened. you could sooo tell that the guy was not for real. i knew they were hot (stolen) speakers. i haggled the guy down from $600 bucks to $200, then i pulled out my wallet....oops, no money! what a shame! (sarcastically)....i told him to waith there a second while i ran across the street to get some cash from the atm. i had barely turned my back on the guy and he hopped in the van and sped off with the tires screeching. oh poop. no speakers for me. i think i'll go and cry.

That description they gave of a typical sales pitch was almost word for word what these women were pitching me. The old adage is almost always true that "if it sounds too good to be true, it problably is."
