options to install car stereo
so im lookin at putting some new hardware in my car and now im looking for some information
I want to go with a equalizer to control all the speakers, so the output from the head unit goes to the equalizer then to the amplifier and to the speakers
about 400 - 500 watt amplifier to power all speakers including subs.
a 4 channel amp with 2 channels bridged to play bass and the other two to play mids and top end
the info im looking for is what brand amp and peakers give the best bang for the buck and how feasible is the idea
also if there are any ideas y'all want ot share i am all ears.
any info will be considered helpful and i do thank u for ur input

What is your budget? Do you already have a deck and equalizer? What is your overall goal for the system (SPL or SQ)? What vehicle is it going into? There are a lot of options available so more info makes things easier.
Add me to msn, forbidden@telus.net and we can figure out what options are going to work best for your application. I have posted a huge sale posting in the vendor section that you should start looking at. More info is needed before any items can be chosen, most importantly is why you feel you need a EQ.

the budget.........
$200 for an EQ
$150- $200 for a 10 or 12 inch sub
I already have some good speakers for the mids and top end but improvements are always good. i have a head unit that doesnt have a sub out so thats why i was considering an EQ.....o and the vehicle is 98 Honda Civic
it would be great if u guys would explain some of these abbreviations, im stil a novice to this car stereo thing.
Thanks for your input guys and please keep it going

Instead of dumping $ into a EQ that you almost for sure do not need, sell the cd player you have to a friend and take that $ and your other money and buy a good cd player that has sub out and perhaps Ipod capabilities. You will go way further in your system by doing so. Have a look in the "You snooze you lose" thread for deals on cd players (and I have other ones as well).

i think a 5 chan jl audio amp would be best for you setup...it would juice all
4 speakers and would give you a channel for your sub too
deck wise alpine is always a great choice or the higher end kenwood excelon
also several eclipse decks have 5-8v pre outs which could be an advantage in your case
