I have 2 Infinity 102.7w DVC subs and plan on running them in 2 ohm on an Exile S1000.1 amp. The subs are rated at 350w RMS totaling 700w RMS. My amp is rated at 500w RMS in 2 ohm mono. What voltage should I set my gain at? If I set it at 32 volts this gives me the 500w so should I go higher? Also my subs can be set to 4 ohm or 1 ohm. Am I better going 1 ohm in series or 4 ohm in parallel for the 2 ohm load or is there a difference?

 

i just looked up your amp specs...says its rated 1000 w @ 1ohm
i think that the best way to go just wire at final load of 1 ohm
just go easy on the gain slightly less then 1/2 i guess

 

But I can't get a 1 ohm load. I can only go as low as 2 ohm. The subs do 4 0r 1 ohm and I have 2 so I can get either a .5ohm or 2ohm load.

 

oh ic now....i guess you're stuck at 2 ohms
each sub getting 250 w...i dont think it would sound too bad either

i prefer parallel, as the amp see the two speakers at the same time. In series, the first speaker gets the power then it has to go through it's voice coil, tinsels etc.. and then to the second speaker. I'm sure there is some loss in terms of damping factor, resistance etc...also, if either of the speakers fail then you have no sound, in parallel, the good one will still play.

Yeah, wire the voice coils of each woofer in series to have 4 ohm from each, then wire the woofers in parallel to bring the load back down to 2 ohms.

As far as the gain, I'm not sure. I'd set it by ear, personally.
