Proper Amp Wiring

Just a question for everybody. Have you ever heard of somebody wiring an amp directly from the alternator? A friend told me that he wired a Rockford P325.1 by running the positive cable from his alternator, not the battery.

To me this seems like it would damage the amp and at the very least produce a lot of noise. However he listened to it for three hours continuously without any noise or other problems. The install was in a 08 GMC Sierra.

Not sure what to think of it so if you have any ideas or opinions let me know.

Does he have a separate alt just for the amp?

If no then it's still connected to the battery, the positive wire of the alt goes to the battery...

Their no noise bc the battery still in the circuit or/and the amp have a very power supply that filter the ripples
