AMP / SUB Wiring.

o.k. I just got my new sub and not sure how to wire it?

AMP :
600 w @ 4 ohms bridged.
300 w x 2 @ 2 ohms
150 w x 2 @ 4 ohms.

SUB : Dual 2 ohms. 450 rms 900 max

Possible set up:
1) 4 ohm series. Bridge the AMP to push 600 RMS @ 4 Ohms and have the sub set up in a series to have a 4 ohm load.
2) 2 ohm stereo. each channel @ 2 ohms into each voice coil @ 2 ohms. The instructiom manual listed this as a possible set up.

My question is,
1) with set up #2, how much power is the sub receiving? 2 x 300 = 600? or just 300?
2) Which set up would sound better.

Thanks for any advice.

Keith.

For only one subwoofer I would suggest bridging the amplifier. The chances that each channel will be exactly calibrated to have the same output is very slim. Although there's very little chance of any problems in the stereo set up, mono would be the safest bet IMO.

If I were you'd i'd try both and see which one sounds better.
Or, look closer at the specs. Which setting has less distortion?
I'd suspect bridged mode has much higher distortion.
But like i said at first, try it and see which works best.
Then let us know what happens.

Thanks for the info.

Here are the specs.

RMS Power measured at 12.5 Volts DC:
150 watts x 2 into a 4 ohm load with less than 0.05% THD+N
300 watts x 2 into a 2 ohm load with less than 0.1% THD+N
600 watts bridged into a 4 ohm load with less than 0.1% THD+N

It'll be a bit of time before I get to try it out.

I'm just doing some background research for my set up.
