Hey guys, I would like to know which is the best way to place 4 subs (4 12s) OR (2 10+/2 12s) in the back of my trunk (Mazda 3 sedan). Im considering doing this b/c no one wants to buy my extra amp, and I think I may put it to use by adding 2 more subs in the trunk if possible. With that said, which of the following installs is best:

- All 4 facing upwards (4 12s) OR (2 10+/2 12s)

- 2 facing to the rear, other 2 facing towards the back seat (4 12s) OR (2 10+/2 12s)

- 2 lined up along the driver and passenger side, with the cones facing towards the middle of the trunk across from the other pair, and 3-4inch space down the middle between the two separate sub boxes (4 12s)

- Any other suggestions?

 

If they are both identical amps i would say 1 sub each, facing back. if you allready have two subs with one of said amps, and want to add 2 more with another (identical) amp, i would say face em all up. or last option 2 on one side 2 on the other might work but i would go all up if it were me.

 

wiat a second here 2 10's plus 2 12's.... are you sure you wnat to mix and match subs? i was under the understanding that, that is a no no! as for firing in my opion it shouldn't matter bass is bass no matter which way it goes lol!! and keep your subs firing in the same direction!

 

Each amp is different. Current amp being used is a Fosgate T5001bd. The other amp is a T3002. What I want to do is the following:

T5001bd: Power 2 12inch Dual 4 ohm Fosgate P3s @1ohm 987watts (Current set up) which gives about 494 watts for each sub

T3002: Power 2 12inch or 10inch Dual 2 ohm Fosgate P3s @ 446 on each channel (2 channels) at 1 ohm

 

I would do it if i had the equiptment in my closet, but i wouldnt waste my money if i had to buy it.

 

Using different size drivers on the same frequency range is generally a bad idea.....if you really feel the need to double up on the subs, use one amp on each sub you have now....setup could be a pain if they are in a common chamber tho......

Don't know what you're running for a front stage but if you can do a pair of 6" MB drivers in each door the T3002 would do a nice job running them.....

Where are you getting these power numbers? I took a quick look at ampguts.com. The T3002 only puts out 150 watts X2 at 1 ohm and the T5001BD puts out 500 watts at 1 ohm.

I assume he is using the Birth sheeted numbers of MAX output...

 

I wouldn't buy any more subs until you get an amp big enough to power the 2-12 P3's that you have now. I believe they're 500 rms each. I ran my old P3's on a JL 1000/1. That was pretty impressive. Seems like your trying to add more speakers to make up for a lack of power. The T5001bd only puts out 500 rms. Possibly buy another one and run 1 per sub that you currently have. You'll be much happier and have a lot more room than adding more subs. Not to mention they will also need more power. I'd work on more power first, then if it still doesn't meet your needs, then get more subs.

 

but this kinda defeats the purpose of his post, He wanted to add more subs BECAUSE no one wants to buy his amp(meaning he already has the second amp). Just from what I gathered, not trying to knock your post down man..
