Here's the way I see it.... if I'm going to be paying for a pre-made enclosure (and I'm sure they're expensive from JL) I'd rather go with something like a box from Trevor at Pound That Sound.

It's going to be made very well and be a little bit more customized to your tastes and style.

I would even be saying this if he weren't an advertiser here... I just really like his work!

Yup, if you want output have the box custom made for your choice of sub and vehicle. If you want a great 8" sub that is tonally balanced yet still has more output than most 10" drivers (and some 12"), the DD1508 is a great choice. Jalat can build you the box as he is local to you. Chances are this is going to yield the exact results that you are looking for.

Well, I'd start with - How did you like your last experience with an 8" woofer Rob?

If I recall correctly, you were disappointed. You can blame the 8 but I remember that it was a well regarded, high power sub. IMO, regardless of the heft of the 8 you buy, it won't be enough for you.

Most 10s will work in as small a space as most 8s. I suggest you start there. Any installer will skill will be able to make a 10 virtually disappear in a CRX.

hehehe dont think we forgot the 8" debacle... still good reading before and after the purchase/box build

If you want loud get a sub that goes loud... bigger is better

if you must have an 8 the least likely to be blown up (by most) are the DD and W7 there may be more.

On a positive note I do like the stealth box's and the power wedges they are well made and do sound good but they also look like every other one of the 50,000 JL box's. But I will also echo the bennies of a custom, one of a kind, box.

nuthun like a new box with a tight fit I like to say!

My last experience with a 8" was great Paul, the DD1508 is one amazing subwoofer. If you are thinking of the POS Earthquake shallow mount debacle, that is a different story. The debacle is over the distributors lack of looking after a customer (over 2 years now waiting for those recones) Until then I guess the service speaks for the line. The original Pioneer IMPP 8" TSW201C was a great sub as well, used a pair of them in my first MR2 and had stellar results from them.
